  • When the column-mounted shift lever on certain Dodge and Ram trucks becomes sloppy or inoperable, it's typically because the original equipment shift bracket connecting the lever to the shift cable has lost its grip on the shifter arm or completely failed. The factory bracket is made from soft cast aluminum and relies on just a single bolt to secure the shift lever. The routine, repetitive motion of gear selection places stress on the single bolt and eventually causes it to loosen, which causes unwanted play in the shifter. Attempting to eliminate the slop in the lever by tightening the bolt often causes the threads to strip and the weak aluminum bracket to break. This Dorman OE FIX shift lever bracket is upgraded to address the two main reasons the OE bracket fails and provide a long-lasting repair that ensures a once-and-done installation. Our bracket is manufactured from a higher grade, more durable aluminum alloy, and engineered with an innovative and much sturdier double-bolt design that more effectively and consistently distributes the stresses of the shift lever motion.
