Have a 93 Dodge W250, had a squeak every one full rotation of the S-belt and a real good chirp at shut down. Mechanic said he thought I needed a new A/C pump unit or maybe a water pump. Read up a bit on the Cummins forum and found a lot about the Gates vs the Dayco tensioner. Bought the Dayco and a Gator back S-belt and NO SQUEAKS! Runs quiet....for a diesel. ;-)

EXCELLENT....EXCELLENT...THS PRODUCT EXCEEDS GM SPECS....IF YOU HAVE AN ISSUE WITH UNDER LOAD YOU HEAR A GRINDING/TIN TYPE SOUND...ITS FROM THE INSIDE OF YOUR GM/AC DELCO TENSIONER....THE SPRING INSIDE IS CHEAP AND WILL BREAK INSIDE....IT WILL STIL WORK BUT WILL CAUSE ALOT OF NOISE YOU THINK YOUR ENGINE IS COMMING LOOSE...

Got this for my 2002 Chevy trailblazer LS with the 4wd and it was perfect. Took the screeching away from my car. I installed it myself, its pretty straightforward.Take the belt off first, Remove the bolt and swap piece, then reinstall the bolt. I purchased a torque wrench but you don't need it, just use enough pressure to make it snug, then give it another small tug. Also check the belt for cracks and the gatorback is a good buy.

Installed on my 2000 Corvette. Functions perfectly and much better design pivot than the original. Should last forever.Only down side is that it didn't come with a bearing dust shield like the ACDelco. Easy fix, I just swapped it from my previous tensioner. The current image of a water pump is obviously wrong, but the only correct pic I could find for it was on an ebay post so I'm not going to try to link that. Look for the one with an all aluminum rear and the shiny metal pulley and you're looking at the correct one.

Perfect fit for 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 5.7L Hemi. Seems to be working well so far. Actually noticed my old one had a crack in it while replacing it. There is some slight movement in the tensioner while the engine is running, but I've been told this is normal (for small movements). Truck seems to be running smooth, all is well. Good product for the money (so far).

I brought this beefier belt tensioner to help with the added stress of having a Procharged challenger and has so far kept the belt tight with no slippage, many others have noticed using the stock belt tensioner that it would give out or just break causing the belt to be thrown AWSOME upgrade from stock and cheap you can really see the difference in the two when they are side by side.

I wouldn't worry about the plastic pulley. It doesn't "ring" like the metal one does and has worked fine for over a year. The pulley material is immaterial anyway, what you need is the new spring, new rotator bearing, and new pulley bearing. I have no regrets buying this part.BTW, on a GM '94-96 B-car, the easiest way to replace the belt and tensioner (replace them at the same time!) is to put the front of the car on jackstands or ramps, then release the tension from below. On an electric fan car, you can do just about the whole job from underneath. The mechanical fan cars require you to take a minute to thread the belt around the fan, but it's a simple job. Tensioner bolts are 10mm, and I believe the pulley bolt is 13mm.

Even though the illustration is incorrect, the part matches the description. I picked up two when I found them listed here for less than ten dollars, by far the most reasonable price I have ever seen on this part. Even better, it is made in the USA!

I was going through a tensioner and belt once a year. I discovered this was the tensioner that Cummins sells for my 97Dodge Ram 3500 at 3x the price. This tensioner along with the corresponding Dayco belt seem to have solved my problem. I think the spring in this tensioner is stronger and the whole part was heavier..for only $20. more than the other tensioner that seemed to be the one more commonly recommended. I think using that Dayco ribbed belt also is a good idea with this tensioner.

I wanted to buy this tensioner from AutoPartsWAY but I needed it NOW and even next day shipping wouldn't help, so I bought it locally for 30% more. The Dayco part is identical in every way to the OEM part I removed - even the color of the bearing seal is the same. It's US made. The fit is exactly the same as the OEM part, as is the casting in every respect that I can observe (I didn't take a pair of calipers to it). I don't know why the previous reviewer says it looks cheap - it looks original to me.

Purchased this tensioner to replace the factory tensioner on a supercharged 5.7 Hemi. The factory tensioner and other brands have trouble withstanding the higher belt tensions with a supercharger. This one is made much better than the factory and most other aftermarket products.

I would of given this product a five, but didn't because it lasted only about 30k miles on our car. Our OEM one lasted twice as long with no problems other than belt slack. Other than that this product has lived up to allowing no slack in the serpentine belt. The quality and finish our excellent, but reliability could be better.

The Dayco tensioner 89236 arrived quickly and as described. The only problem was I had to use the spring out of the old one as the new spring was a little bit short to stay locked in place. Other than that I'm very satisfied.

I have about 4k miles on this replacment belt tensioner. I installed this on a 2004 Ford 6.0 Diesel with a single alternator. After I removed the old one I looked at them side by side. From what I can tell this is the same as the OEM Ford Belt Tensioner. All the casting marks look the same and are in the same locations. Install took about 10mins. Only had to remove the pull off part of the top of the RAD plastic.

After watching the OEM tension bounce around like a belly dancer I decided I would invest in a new tensioner, which as the vehicle isn't that old shouldn't have been a problem yet, but the GM tensioner had a spring which well isn't the greatest. Needless to say, got the belt off, and installed this in no time, I also bought a Goodyear Gatorback to replace the stock belt, I figured if I had the belt off why not? and they work great together. No bouncing betty anymore.

I began to get a loud screeching sound under the hood and was able to determine it was the belt tensioner. It's cheap and easy to replace. I've never bought anything with the Dayco brand name before. It looks kinda cheap but 5 months later and it is still going strong in my 2004 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. I suppose all replacement parts look cheaper than the original unless you get the real deal OEM replacement.

This after market tensioner fit perfectly and is working great! The location of the lock for removing the belt is beter than the original tensioner as it is located at the top of the unit instead of underneath as on the original. That location made it difficult to get the lock in place wehn changing the belt. This is much better. The price is good on this replacement part. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Was swapping out belts like crazy, and they would inevitably start squeeling. I didn't notice a problem with the tensioner, but I was out of options and it took care of it for me!Fit my '99 Dodge Durango (318) perfectly.

Installed the Dayco tensioner on my commuter car (2000 Mercury Sable) with 195,788 miles. Worthy of note: make sure that your other pulleys are removed first, i.e. idler and power steering, or they will impede install. The Dayco design is much improved over OEM, especially in the adjustment bolt area--there is more surface area.

A number of people had postings that the Belt Tensioner on the Dodge Challenger's with Superchargers was not up to the task and a couple of the OEM Belt Tensioner's had broken. In response to that I Purchaued the Dayco Delt Tensioner. Had no Problems installing it and have been running the car with it in place for a couple of weeks. While my time is short others that I have talked to have had this Belt Tensioner installed for a lot longer time with no problems.

The serpentine belt tensioner assembly sold by Dayco is identical to the Toyota OEM tensioner, with the same numbers and "Slovakia" stamped on the metal body. The box stated it was made in Germany, but the unit was stamped with Slovakia so I am guessing that it was assembled in Slovakia with German made parts. At any rate, the unit failed at about 40k miles so I assume this unit will last approximately the same mileage. Actually, I am disappointed that it lasted so short a time as it takes a lot of work to remove it as its replacement requires you to raise the engine so the primary mounting bolt will clear the frame. So think about the work before you tackle this job. Toyota did a very poor job in the design as it could have easily used a shorter bolt.As a diagnostic tool before you go to all the trouble to remove the tensioner, gently peel back the rubber boot on the hydraulic damper and if its leaking oil, then it has to be replaced. Typically, the first...

I have had very good luck with Gates tensioners. They have never failed me. However the image is completely wrong. This is supposed to be a serpentine belt tensioner. I have no idea what the image is of. If you are looking for a tensioner, make sure you are getting the right part. The Gates 89319 is the proper serpentine tensioner for a Chrysler 2.4 motor. However, it looks very different.

This tensioner fixed belt noise caused by worn out tensioner. Belt stays tight and smooth now. Recommended.
