Parts break. And window cranks are subjected to heavy pressure because the tracks in most windows are decades old, causing the glass to stick. My son's been driving my 1974 Super Beetle for the past few months and likely reefed too hard on the crank. It broke. And he needs the manual air conditioning. So I ordered this replacement. It's perfect and looks better than the original (likely also a replacement) since it's shiny. As I'm bound and determined to complete the restoration on this old girl by the time I hit 55 (two years), making sure it's in running order is paramount. This is a great product.

Man, it's hot in St. Louis all of a sudden and even having one window in the Super Beetle not rolling down makes it twice as hot in the car.....the window crank arrived very fast and fit perfectly~!

They work fine and fit well, but I question their durability. I will post again if they fail, but these were pretty much the only ones that I could get for my 81 Vanagon.

If you have a classic Air-cooled VW, you already know how it goes with replacement parts. Many of them are expensive and/or poorly made. These are not bad, but for the price you won't go wrong. All I needed was functional cranks. These do the job and go on in about 1 minute each. As you would expect, they are just cast metal under a plastic cover, so if you have children, a pet chimp, or passengers who are prone to uncontrolled muscle spams while performing basic motor functions, be advised that these cranks probably won't stand up to the abuse.
