This was an easy install and perfect fit for my wifes new beetle, 2003 model turbo. Seems to be better quality than original equipment that became brittle and shattered.

Why on Gods' Green Earth Audi/VW would used plastic for a dipstick tube is beyond me. That said, this replacement was a perfect fit. It took much less time to install than to remove all the little pieces of the original tube.

My factory dip stick tube held up obviously for ten yrs and that's great but if they would make it out of metal im sure it would last even longer cause plastic eventually seizes and chips away bad bc of the heat that my engine generates. But I will atleast get ten yrs out of this one and that's sort of ssatisfying to know.

This tube is exactly what i needed and I also purchased the Dorman dipstick. They both bacame brittle over time and broke. The handle on the dipstick for my 2003 VW Jetta 1.8T and the part of this tube that meets flush with the dipstick both were broken. The packaging was great for both products...installation was a little more of a challenge than anticipated but that's VW fault.

it was a great alternative to the VW factory item, a third the cost,,, but I was afraid it would break during installation. in the end it installed ok so I guess if I had to I would buy it again.

Worked great. Wish these were made a little better fitting. Doesn't leak and does the job well, but unlike the original, it doesn't fit as tight, but tight enough.

I installed the Dorman 917-355 Oil Dip Stick Tube along with the companion Dorman 917-350 Oil Level Dip Stick as replacements for a cracked tube and dipstick. The installation went easily enough with patience and common sense. Loosening the bolts on the attachment point allowed greater access for removing the old dip stick tube. Be careful when removing the old tube. I had to use small pliers to remove some of the plastic which had broken off of the old piece. It helps to place a small rag into the dipstick hole to avoid plastic bits from falling into the dipstick tube. Once I cleaned the area, installation of the new tube was simple and straightforward. Now the tube and new dipstick works perfectly with accurate measurement of the oil level in the engine.
