- IMPORTANT!! Voltage supplied to the starter must be to factory specs. If the voltage is too low, the starter will not spin fast enough to properly engage the ring gear. Prior to installing this starter, visually inspect the battery, battery cables, and ring gear teeth. If all of those are OK, perform a battery load test to determine its condition before considering the starter to be at fault.
