- IMPORTANT!! Failure to engage or a grinding noise at startup is often due to clearance issues between the starter and torque converter that will NOT be resolved by replacing the starter only. Refer to Honda TSB #16-002 for more info. Also, voltage supplied to the starter MUST be to factory specs. Prior to installing this starter, visually inspect the battery, the cables, and the ring gear teeth and load test the battery to determine its condition. Starter mounting gasket #31270-RJA-A01 is serviced separately.

- IMPORTANT!! Voltage supplied to the starter MUST be to factory specs. If the voltage is too low, the starter will not spin fast enough to properly engage the ring gear. Prior to installing this starter, visually inspect the battery, battery cables, and ring gear teeth. If all of those are OK, perform a battery load test to determine its condition before considering the starter to be at fault.
