A common problem in old Hondas, this fixes most of the cases where there is oil leaking at the base of the distributor, at one end of the valve cover. This oil leak deteriorated a coolant hose under the distributor, the hose can swell and rupture which can lead you stranded with an overheated car.Another common leak where oil settles in that area on some Hondas, is at the VTEC spool valve, which is behind that corner of the engine on some models. For that leak, ASIN B009NQ8L5S or equivalent, should help. This one is easy to replace, just un-latch the connectors, make note of the distributor's mounting bolt in its rotated slot (advance/retard adj), and note the orientation of the rotor shaft's end key/slot, or try not to rotate anything while the distributor is out for the brief time it takes to replace the O-ring.There are cases where the oil has gone inside the distributor. If that is your case, refer to ASIN B001G5VST0 and check if that seal fits...

Fits a 1997 Civic EX with d16y8 engine. Removing the distributor is easy, hardest part was removing the old o-ring which had hardened to the point it was closer to a washer.
