  • When your vehicle does not readily provide an electrical connection for hooking up your trailer, CURT electrical converts offer the solution. Working tail lights on your trailer are absolutely essential any time you tow, and a converter provides an effective way to properly equip your vehicle for safe towing. A CURT electrical converter, much like our custom vehicle-to-trailer wiring harnesses, provides a trailer connector on your vehicle by slicing into the vehicles electrical system. Electrical converters are designed to splice directly into the taillight wiring, rather than plugging into various sockets, giving them the nickname 'taillight converters'. Though it requires a little extra work compared to a custom wiring harness, a tail light converter offers a reliable, long-term connector solution. This converter wiring kit is intended to be used with various CURT powered taillight converters. Powered converters require a direct connection to the vehicles battery, and the powered converter wiring kit #55151 provides all of the components needed to establish a secure connection. The kit includes 20 feet of 12 gauge wire, a 10-amp fuse, an in-line fuse holder, a 3/8 in. ring terminal, a butt connector, a 14-1/2 in. cable tie and eight 6 in. cable ties. This wiring kit is rated at 10 amps and comes included with CURT powered electrical converters #59146, #59187, #59190, #59200 and #59201.

These CURT electrical converters are designed to convert a 3-wire system to a 2-wire system and provide a standard 4-way flat connector socket to plug in your trailer. They are made with cutting-edge surface-mount technology (SMT) circuitry, featuring electrical components that are mounted directly to the surface of the board rather than being inserted into a series of holes. SMT circuits have longer life cycles, lower resistance, reduced heat generation and are more reliable than through-hole-mounted components.

All of our custom hitches are designed for a vehicle-specific fit, manufactured with pride, finished for industry-leading rust resistance and tested to rigorous SAE J684 standards for safety. This class 1 trailer hitch and ball mount combination is designed for a custom fit on select years of the Porsche 924 and 944 (see application info to verify fitment). The hitch integrates with the vehicles frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4 in. x 1-1/4 in. receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 1,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 100 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4 in. trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid Bonderite for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield.
