Truthfully, we actually spend way more time on our daily commutes than we spend on the trails. The commutes are neither smooth surfaces or free of obstacles. Quick starts, up and down acceleration and hard stops are a daily routine. The separate reservoir allows more room in the shock cylinder to increase the oil capacity. The large bore size design reacts quicker and creates the smoothest ride possible. The Teflon banded piston's smooth reaction delivers a superior ride and adds stability on any terrain. Impact extruded CNC machined T6061-T6 aluminum monotube dissipates heat and runs cooler versus traditional steel-bodied shocks. The overall weight of the aluminum body and aluminum remote reservoir setup is lighter too.

Shock absorbers, or spring dampers as it is called everywhere else except in the U.S., control the rate at which suspension springs compress and rebound. As the shock is pushed together, this is called bump or compression. As the shock expands, this is called rebound or extension. Absorbing the ‘shock' of bumps and suspension loading is actually performed by the springs in the suspension. The shock's real job is controlling the energy stored in the springs.

Softride(R) springs use bolt style spring clips, eliminating friction. Other spring designs use the c in. style bend clips which bend tightly over the spring leafs causing binding and friction. Skyjacker(R) Softride(R) springs taper over the entire length of the leaf creating more flex at the leaf ends. This tapering distributes loads more evenly over a greater area and reduces the tendency for one leaf to dig into the leaf above it. Rear Softride(R) springs are used to complete the SYSTEM in a Skyjacker(R) suspension lift.
