To continue supporting our Tacoma customers, Mishimoto has developed an all-new performance aluminum radiator for the 2.7L/4.0L Tacoma. Our radiator features a full-aluminum design and precisely TIG-welded end tanks for a substantial improvement in durability over the stock plastic radiator. Our aluminum radiator features a 1.65"-thick two-row core with strategically designed fins for maximum cooling efficiency. Packing more fins into our core results in an 84-percent increase in external fin surface area over the stock radiator. This fin surface area increase directly impacts heat transfer, resulting in a 53-percent improvement in heat rejection. The stock Tacoma radiator features an in-tank transmission cooler for automatic models. We’ve also incorporated an extremely efficient liquid-to-liquid stacked plate transmission cooler into the end tank of our radiator, ensuring proper control of transmission fluid temperatures. - The 2007-2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser has become a cult icon in the off-road community. Bred from a long line of four-wheel-drive vehicles designed to withstand the rigors of war, the FJ Cruiser is over-engineered in true Toyota fashion to be one of the best off-road vehicles of all time. But the one thing Toyota couldn’t engineer around is heat. The FJ’s 4.0L 1GR-FE V6 engine pumps out up to 278 lb-ft of torque and a lot of heat, especially when slowly crawling up steep rock faces. Low road speeds mean low airflow through the radiator, which makes expelling all that heat difficult. But after 13 years of trails and fording muddy water, low airflow can be compounded by clogged radiator fins. Unless you’re somebody who religiously power washes your cooling stack every weekend, chances are clogged fins are hampering your engine cooling.
