However, even with the latest transmission technology, the age-old enemy to sports cars rears its head: heat. The tag team at Toyota and BMW were already ahead of the game by fitting the A90 Supra with an external liquid-to-air transmission cooler, but heavy demand can still be too much. With plenty of room to grow, our engineering team expanded the transmission cooler’s core, increasing the volume by 162-percent and the external fin surface area by 412-percent while retaining similar fluid pressures within the system. We also incorporated internal cooling fins to maximize cooling power to maintain proper transmission temperatures, perfect for long days at the track or a spirited drive through the backroads.The Mishimoto Automatic Transmission Cooler for your 2020+ Toyota GR Supra accomplishes all of this with a lightweight, aluminum tube-and-fin core, powder-coated in a sleek silver finish. Luckily, Mishimoto has developed a direct-fit transmission cooler to do just that.--Our 2019+ RAM 6.7L Cummins transmission cooler utilizes a tube-and-fin core with internal fins to balance flow with efficient cooling. Our transmission cooler reduces restriction over stock, while adding cooling performance. With a massive 64 percent thicker core and an additional 3 rows of fins, this trans cooler is a huge improvement over the stock unit. To make even better use of that enlarged core, the Mishimoto transmission cooler utilizes fins within the tubes to not only add more cooling surface area, but also ensure more of the fluid contacts the tube, leading to better cooling efficiency. - The 10R80 transmission found in your 2017+ Raptor 3.5L EcoBoost may be new to the scene, but it's proving capable of handling the power of the potent 3.5L. As with any newly developed product, however, time and mileage tend to reveal any shortcomings. One major weak point of the 10R80 is the factory-equipped thermal bypass valve. This valve controls transmission fluid flow to the external cooler, and many reports of failures are beginning to surface. In these cases, the factory valve is malfunctioning by restricting or eliminating flow to the external cooler, which quickly results in high fluid temps, damaged transmissions, and an array of warnings on your dashboard. To protect your truck from potential transmission damage, the bright minds at Mishimoto have developed a direct-fit thermostatic bypass valve kit for your 2017+ Ford Raptor. The Mishimoto thermal bypass valve kit includes an all-aluminum CNC-machined housing that replaces the stock unit. This thermal bypass unit includes a fully serviceable 160F thermostat, providing optimal fluid temperatures for all driving conditions. For those in warm climates or vehicles being used in extreme driving/towing conditions, this kit also includes a bypass assembly that provides full flow to the transmission cooler, regardless of temperature. The Mishimoto thermal bypass valve kit helps extend the life of your 10R80 transmission and effectively eliminates the risk of overheating due to stock bypass valve failure.
